This year's Vallenato King fishing in Norway

At the Vallenato festival in Valledupar last week - one of Latin Americas largest music events - Almes Granados (closest to camera) was crowned Rey Vallenato (accordion king). He is the third member of the Granados dynasty of accordion players to be crowned vallenato king, his older brother, the legendary Ovidio Grandos, came in second three times and is concidered "the king without a crown".

Almes Granados played in several Scandinavian cities in 2009 on a tour organized by the Golden Colombia Foundation. See photos from the trip and the concerts here, and a video of one of his amazing festival performances here.
